Why Thermafied?
Thermafied wood is engineered in a specific manor to increase:
-Longevity- Thermafied adds life to your lumber; some studies report 25 years or longer lifespan.
-Enhanced stability- up to 90% more stable than unmodified species.
-Increased Biological Resistance- an increased level of insect and fungal protection.
-Lower Maintenance- with its increased natural water and insect barriers, the maintenance costs can be substantially lower.
-Aesthetic Appeal- each species has up to three different color schemes depending on the recipe you choose for that species.
-Coloring- The product is a color through product. No matter how you slice it, the color will remain the same throughout.
Why Not Thermafied?
-Structural Loss- Thermafied is not yet rated for structural integrity. Within the process it can lose up to 30% of bending strength.
-Higher Cost- The Thermafied process will add cost to any species, usually offset by lower maintenance costs.
-Staining with UV Protectant- We always recommend with any wood product that if you love the color and look when it is first installed, get on a UV protectant with or without coloration in the first 3-6 months depending on your location and sun exposure.
